Sailing North, midnight on the darkest night
Today we stopped in the town of Alesund and then headed inland into the Geringer Fiord. Weather was the best it's been all year in here according to the First officer I ran into after breakfast. We just stopped at Alesund again on the way out and we'll sail overnight for Trondheim tomorrow. Turns out that May 17 is Norwegian Independence Day and tomorrow the ship's passangers are all invited to march in the city's Independence Day parade in the morning. It'll all start at 9:00 and the ship leaves at 1:00. Last night was probably the darkest it'll get on this trip, because soon we'll be above the Arctic Circle with the midnight sun. Even at midnight it was light enough (dusk) to see all the islands we were passing and even take pictures of them without a flash. Hopefully I'll be able to post those pics soon. There were some narrow passages, I'd hate to be Officer of the Deck, steering through those on a dark night. Photo update .... the ship's wireless network has been down. I've been able to log on with their internet terminals but there no way to upload pictures. They say they'll work on it, but I may look around to see if there's a wi-fi spot in Trondheim tomorrow and upload from there. Thanks for all the encouraging comments ..... see ya'll for now.
