Mayo Monday

Monday was our last full day in Mayo and the three of us took a drive to the north Mayo coast to visit the Céide Fields, where the land ends on cliffs 300 feet over the Atlantic.

This area became well known in the 1930's when local residents discovered ancient stone walls buried deep in the peat bogs overlooking the ocean. Further digging found extensive wall construction that dated back between 5,000 and 6,000 years. I guess people appreciated great scenery even back then.

Today we make the drive back to Donegal for the night. Tomorrow we turn the car back in at Letterkenny and hop the bus back to Dublin. Two more nights of visiting cousins here in Ireland before heading home on Thursday.

Weather looks ok for our last few days, cloudy and mid 60 degree temps.
